Type Roman numerals directly using letters: I, V, X, L, C, D, M
Use uppercase letters for standard Roman numerals
Use lowercase letters if you want lowercase Roman numerals
Insert a Roman numeral list by typing a number and a period, then pressing Space if AutoCorrect is enabled
Use Word’s numbering feature and choose a Roman numeral format from the numbering options
Go to Home > Numbering > Define New Number Format to select Roman numerals
Use Insert > Symbol only if you need special Roman numeral characters
Use Alt codes or Unicode input for special Roman numeral symbols if needed
Convert existing numbers to Roman numerals with a formula field if required
