Turn the dial clockwise several full turns to clear the lock
Stop at the first number on the combination
Turn the dial counterclockwise one full turn past the first number, then stop at the second time you reach it
Turn the dial clockwise directly to the third number
Pull up on the shackle or open the lock
If it does not open, repeat the sequence carefully from the start
