Flip the Ring/Silent switch on the left side of the iPhone so the orange indicator is not showing
Open Control Center and turn off Silent Mode if it is enabled
Go to Settings
Tap Sounds & Haptics
Increase the Ringer and Alerts volume
Make sure Do Not Disturb or Focus mode is turned off
Check that Bluetooth is not sending audio to another device
Restart the iPhone if it still stays muted
