Check your Toyota model year and infotainment system compatibility
Confirm whether your car supports CarPlay through a software update or requires a hardware upgrade
Visit Toyota’s official website or your local Toyota dealer for update availability
Download the latest infotainment firmware if Toyota provides a user-installable update
Prepare a USB drive formatted as required by Toyota
Copy the update files to the USB drive exactly as instructed
Start the car or switch the ignition to accessory mode
Insert the USB drive into the vehicle’s USB port
Follow the on-screen prompts to begin the update
Keep the engine running or battery charged during the update
Wait until the update is fully completed and the system restarts
Connect your iPhone to the USB port using an Apple-certified Lightning cable
Open the CarPlay settings on the infotainment screen if prompted
Enable CarPlay and allow permissions on your iPhone
If CarPlay still does not appear, ask the dealer about a factory retrofit or head unit replacement
If needed, update your iPhone to the latest iOS version
Restart both the car system and the iPhone after updating
Reset the infotainment system settings if the connection still fails
Contact Toyota support or a dealer if the model does not support CarPlay at all
