How to Upholster Dining Room Chairs?

Remove the seat cushion or chair seat from the frame

Take photos of the original upholstery and assembly for reference

Remove the old fabric and staples with a staple remover or flathead screwdriver and pliers

Save the old fabric to use as a pattern

Inspect and replace damaged foam, batting, or webbing if needed

Cut new foam to size if replacing padding

Add batting over the foam for a smoother finish

Place the old fabric pattern on the new upholstery fabric and cut with extra allowance

Center the fabric over the seat

Pull the fabric tight and staple one side, then the opposite side

Repeat on the remaining sides, keeping tension even

Fold corners neatly and staple securely

Trim excess fabric

Reattach the seat cushion to the chair frame

Check for wrinkles and restaple if needed

Clean the chair and repeat for each seat
