Place the lodestone in the world
Right-click or use the lodestone to set your compass target
Hold a compass while near the lodestone
Use the compass to track the lodestone location
Move to another dimension if needed and reset the compass there
Break the lodestone if you no longer need it
Use a new compass if the old one is no longer linked
