Rest for a few minutes before checking your pulse
Use your index and middle fingers, not your thumb
Place your fingers on the inside of your wrist below the base of your thumb
Press lightly until you feel a pulse
Count the beats for 30 seconds and multiply by 2
Or count the beats for 60 seconds for the most accurate result
Keep your hand still while counting
Record the number of beats per minute
If you cannot find the wrist pulse, try the side of your neck
Do not press too hard on your neck
Seek medical help if your pulse is very fast, very slow, or irregular and you feel unwell
