Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring
Avoid caffeine, exercise, smoking, and alcohol for 30 minutes before measuring
Empty your bladder before measuring
Place the cuff on your bare wrist
Position the cuff about 1/2 inch above the wrist crease
Make sure the cuff is snug but not too tight
Keep your wrist at heart level
Rest your elbow on a table or armrest
Sit with your back supported and feet flat on the floor
Keep your legs uncrossed
Do not talk or move during the reading
Press the start button on the monitor
Wait until the measurement is complete
Record the systolic, diastolic, and pulse readings
Take two or three readings one minute apart
Use the same wrist and same position each time
Follow the device instructions for your specific model
Check the cuff placement if the reading seems unusual
Consult a healthcare professional if readings are consistently high or low
