Wash the car thoroughly and dry it completely
Work in a shaded area on a cool surface
Inspect the clear coat to confirm the haze is in the clear coat, not through to the paint
Gather wet sandpaper in fine grits such as 2000, 2500, and 3000
Use a sanding block or soft backing pad
Fill a spray bottle or bucket with clean water and a few drops of car wash soap
Mask off trim, edges, emblems, and body lines
Soak the sandpaper in soapy water for at least 15 minutes
Spray the panel and sandpaper frequently while sanding
Sand lightly with straight, overlapping strokes
Keep the surface and paper wet at all times
Use the least aggressive grit needed to remove the haze
Check progress often and stop as soon as the surface looks uniformly dull
Avoid sanding corners, edges, and raised body lines
Rinse the panel and wipe it clean to inspect the finish
Move to a finer grit if sanding marks remain
After sanding, use a rubbing compound with a foam pad
Follow with a polishing compound to restore gloss
Wipe off residue with a clean microfiber towel
Apply wax or paint sealant after polishing
Test on a small area first if you are unsure about the clear coat thickness
Stop immediately if the color coat starts to show through or the surface becomes uneven
