Sand the wood surface lightly and remove dust
Clean the wood with a damp cloth and let it dry
Mix white paint with water or use a whitewash stain
Test the mixture on a small hidden area
Apply the whitewash with a brush, rag, or sponge
Wipe off excess before it dries if a lighter look is desired
Let the first coat dry completely
Apply additional coats until the desired finish is reached
Seal the wood with a clear topcoat if needed
