Use a few drops of mineral oil, baby oil, glycerin, or over-the-counter ear drops to soften wax
Let the drops sit for a few minutes
Tilt your head to let the wax drain out
Wipe the outer ear with a clean cloth
Use warm water to gently rinse the ear during a shower
Dry the outer ear thoroughly
Use a bulb syringe with warm water to gently flush the ear if needed
Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or hearing loss
Do not use cotton swabs inside the ear canal
Do not use ear candles
See a doctor if the wax is impacted, painful, or keeps coming back
