Use a few drops of mineral oil, baby oil, glycerin, or over-the-counter ear drops to soften wax
Tilt your head and let the drops sit in the ear for a few minutes
Repeat once or twice daily for several days if needed
Use warm water in the shower to help loosen wax naturally
Gently rinse the outer ear only with warm water
Dry the outer ear with a clean towel
Use a bulb syringe with lukewarm water only if you have no ear pain, drainage, or eardrum problems
Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or worsening blockage
Avoid cotton swabs, hairpins, or other objects in the ear
See a healthcare professional if the wax does not soften or if you have hearing loss, pain, or discharge
