Cut beef into bite-sized pieces
Season with salt and pepper
Heat oil or butter in a skillet or pot
Brown the beef on all sides
Remove the beef from the pan
Sauté chopped onion and garlic in the same pan
Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and any desired seasonings
Return the beef to the pan
Cover and simmer until the beef is tender
Mix cornstarch with water if you want a thicker gravy
Stir the slurry into the pan and cook until thickened
Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, noodles, or bread
