How to Make Tomato Sauce at Home?

Wash the tomatoes

Remove stems and any damaged parts

Score a small X on the bottom of each tomato

Boil water in a pot

Blanch the tomatoes for 30 to 60 seconds

Transfer the tomatoes to ice water

Peel off the skins

Chop the tomatoes

Heat olive oil in a pan

Add chopped onion and cook until soft

Add minced garlic and cook briefly

Add the chopped tomatoes

Add salt and black pepper

Add sugar if needed

Add dried basil, oregano, or other herbs

Simmer the sauce until thickened

Stir occasionally

Taste and adjust seasoning

Blend if a smoother sauce is desired

Use immediately or cool and store in a container
