Push the stake 12 to 18 inches into the soil for stability
Install the stake at planting time to avoid root damage
Tie the main stem loosely to the stake with soft material

Keep ties below flower clusters and fruiting branches
Check ties regularly and loosen them if needed
Remove suckers if you want a single-stem plant
