Thread the loose end of the strap through the ratchet spool
Pull the strap through until it is snug around the load
Close the ratchet handle partially to take up slack
Pump the handle up and down to tighten the strap
Stop when the load is secure and the strap is firm
Lock the ratchet handle fully closed
Check that the strap is flat, not twisted, and properly seated
To release, open the ratchet handle fully
Press the release lever if needed
Pull the strap back out of the spool
Remove the strap from the load
