How to Repair Drywall Hole?

Gather drywall patch, joint compound, putty knife, sandpaper, utility knife, drywall tape, primer, and paint

Clean the hole and remove loose debris

Cut away any ragged edges around the hole

Cut a drywall patch to fit the hole

Secure the patch with drywall tape, backing support, or a repair clip if needed

Apply joint compound over the patch and edges

Feather the compound outward with a putty knife

Let the compound dry completely

Sand the dried compound smooth

Apply a second coat of joint compound if needed

Sand again after drying

Prime the repaired area

Paint to match the surrounding wall
