Choose the right fluke size for your rod, reel, and target fish
Thread a soft plastic fluke onto a wide-gap or EWG hook
Insert the hook point into the nose of the fluke about 1/4 inch
Bring the hook point out the belly after a short distance
Slide the fluke up to the hook eye
Rotate the hook so the point faces the body of the fluke
Lay the hook against the body to mark the exit point
Push the hook point straight through the body
Skin-hook the point slightly back into the plastic if needed
Rig it weightless for a natural fall
Add a small split shot or weighted hook if extra depth is needed
Keep the fluke straight on the hook to prevent spinning
Check the rig after each cast for tears or misalignment
