Turn on the HP printer
Place the document or photo on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder
Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device
Select your printer
Choose Scan
Select the scan type, size, and destination if needed
Tap or click Scan
Save the scanned file when the scan is complete
If using Windows, you can also open Windows Scan or Fax and Scan
If using Mac, you can also open Image Capture or Preview
If the printer has a touchscreen, select Scan on the printer display
Choose the scan destination such as computer, email, or USB
Start the scan from the printer screen
Check the saved file in the selected destination folder
