Open Finder
Locate an Excel file
Control-click the file and choose Get Info
In the Open with section, select Microsoft Excel
Click Change All
Confirm by clicking Continue
Repeat for other file types if needed, such as .csv or .txt
Open Excel and set it as the default app for supported files when prompted
