FaceTime does not have a built-in pause button
To pause the call, mute your microphone
To stop video, turn off your camera
To briefly step away, leave the FaceTime call and rejoin later
To pause the conversation, use the Hold feature only if your carrier or device setup supports it indirectly through call management, not FaceTime itself
