You cannot truly pause a FaceTime call on iPhone
Tap Mute to turn off your microphone
Tap Camera Off to stop your video
Tap the Home bar or press the Side button to leave FaceTime running in the background
Tap End to completely stop the FaceTime call
Use Do Not Disturb or Focus to silence FaceTime notifications when needed
