Format the cells as Text before entering data

Import data using the Text Import Wizard and set the column format to Text
Use a custom format that preserves the number pattern
Enter values with a leading zero only if needed and keep the cell formatted as Text
Paste values into preformatted Text cells
Disable automatic date conversion in Excel settings if available
Use formulas like =TEXT(A1,”0″) when converting existing values back to text
Check regional date settings if Excel is interpreting the number as a date
Re-enter affected values after changing the cell format to Text
