Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off
If prompted, tap Power Off
If your Kindle has a power slider, slide it to the off position
If the device is frozen, press and hold the power button for about 40 seconds to force a restart
For Kindle models with a sleep button only, press it briefly to put the device to sleep
