Preheat the oven to 400°F to 425°F
Wash the asparagus and trim off the woody ends
Pat the asparagus dry
Place the asparagus on a baking sheet
Drizzle with olive oil
Sprinkle with salt and black pepper
Toss to coat evenly
Spread the spears in a single layer
Roast for 10 to 15 minutes
Shake the pan or turn the asparagus halfway through
Remove when the asparagus is tender and lightly browned
Serve immediately
