Place the can on a flat, stable surface
Hold the can opener in one hand and the can in the other
Open the opener’s arms wide
Position the cutting wheel on the rim of the can
Close the arms so the blade grips the rim
Turn the knob or handle to pierce the lid
Keep turning the knob or handle to move around the rim
Continue until the lid is fully cut
Lift the opener off the can
Remove the lid carefully
Dispose of the lid safely
