Check the washer manual to confirm vinegar is safe for your model
Empty the washer completely
Remove any laundry from the drum and detergent dispenser
Pour 2 cups of white distilled vinegar into the detergent dispenser or directly into the drum
Set the washer to the hottest, longest cycle
Start the wash cycle and let it run completely
Pause the cycle for 30 to 60 minutes if your washer allows it
Resume and finish the cycle
Wipe the drum, door, gasket, and dispenser with a clean cloth
Run an extra rinse cycle with plain water if needed
Leave the door or lid open to let the washer dry
Clean the detergent dispenser separately if it is removable
Repeat once a month if needed
