Tilt your head so the affected ear faces downward
Gently pull the earlobe in different directions to help fluid drain
Lie on your side with the affected ear down for a few minutes
Use a warm compress over the ear for 10 to 15 minutes
Swallow, yawn, or chew gum to help open the Eustachian tube
Try the Valsalva maneuver gently by pinching your nose, closing your mouth, and blowing softly
Use steam from a warm shower to loosen mucus
Stay hydrated
Use saline nasal spray to reduce nasal congestion
Sleep with your head elevated
Avoid inserting cotton swabs or other objects into the ear
See a doctor if pain, fever, hearing loss, dizziness, or drainage persists
