Remove the baseboard or quarter-round along the wall

Cut the damaged plank lengthwise with a utility knife or oscillating tool

Cut the plank into smaller sections and lift them out

Clean any adhesive, debris, or locking fragments from the subfloor

Measure and cut a replacement plank to fit the space

Trim the locking edge or groove if needed for wall-side installation

Apply adhesive if the flooring type requires it

Slide the replacement plank into place at an angle, then press it flat

Use a pull bar or tapping block to tighten the fit against adjacent planks

Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately

Reinstall the baseboard or quarter-round

Roll or press the repaired area if recommended by the manufacturer
