Wash your hands
Clean the blister gently with soap and water
Do not pop the blister if possible
Cover it with a clean bandage or blister pad
Use a cushioned dressing to reduce pressure and friction
Keep the area dry and protected
Avoid activities that rub the blister
If the blister breaks, clean it gently
Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment if needed
Cover it with a fresh sterile bandage
Change the dressing daily or when wet or dirty
Watch for signs of infection such as redness, warmth, swelling, or pus
Seek medical care if the blister is very large, painful, infected, or caused by burns, chemicals, or an unknown reason
