Act fast; blot immediately with cold water (do not rub)
If fresh: rinse the back of the stain with cold water until the water runs clear
Soak in cold water for 30–60 minutes, then recheck
For dried blood: soak in cold water longer (1–8 hours), replacing water as needed
Apply an enzyme laundry detergent directly to the stain; work it in gently and let sit 15–30 minutes
Wash in cold water using regular detergent
If still visible: soak in a solution of cold water and oxygen-based bleach (follow package directions) for 1–6 hours, then wash again
For stubborn stains on colorfast sheets: use hydrogen peroxide (3%) on the stain for a few minutes, then blot and rinse, then wash in cold water
If using peroxide: test in an inconspicuous area first
Avoid hot water and heat drying until the stain is fully gone
If the stain is on delicate fabric: use enzyme detergent soak and cold wash only
For mattresses/foam: blot with cold water, apply enzyme detergent solution sparingly, blot again, then dry thoroughly with airflow
