Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium heat
Add 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for 30 seconds
Whisk in 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour and cook for 1 minute
Slowly whisk in 1 1/2 cups milk
Cook, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened
Reduce heat to low
Stir in 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese until melted
Add salt and black pepper to taste
Optional: stir in 2 tablespoons cream cheese for extra richness
Optional: add a splash of pasta water to adjust consistency
Toss with cooked pasta immediately
