Remove the source of infestation (food waste, carcasses, spoiled material).
Remove visible maggots with paper towels or gloves and place them in a sealed plastic bag.
Dispose of the sealed bag in an outdoor trash bin.
Clean the area with hot soapy water, then disinfect with a household disinfectant.
Wash and dry affected fabrics/bedding on the hottest safe setting; treat with heat or discard if heavily infested.
Steam-clean cracks, crevices, and drains if applicable.
If maggots are in a drain, flush with boiling water periodically and use a drain-safe enzymatic cleaner followed by disinfectant.
For persistent infestations, use an insecticide labeled for flies/maggots and follow the label exactly.
Use fly control measures (covered trash, sealed bins, screen vents, fix leaks).
For outdoor areas, rake/turn compost and keep it properly managed to prevent fly access.
If found in walls/under floors/large numbers or recurring, contact a licensed pest control professional.
