Make sure the vehicle is in park or neutral with the parking brake set
Turn off both vehicles and remove the keys
Locate the battery and identify the positive and negative terminals
Connect one red clamp to the dead battery positive terminal
Connect the other red clamp to the good battery positive terminal
Connect one black clamp to the good battery negative terminal
Connect the other black clamp to an unpainted metal ground on the dead vehicle
Start the donor vehicle and let it run for a few minutes
Try starting the dead vehicle
If it starts, keep it running
Remove the jumper cables in reverse order
Let the started vehicle run to recharge the battery
If it does not start after several attempts, stop and check for a deeper issue
