How To Boil Maize?

Rinse maize (corn) under cold water.

If using fresh corn: remove husks and silk.

If using frozen corn: thaw briefly or use directly if instructed on package.

Add enough water to a pot to fully cover the corn.

Bring water to a boil over high heat.

Add corn to the boiling water.

Reduce to a steady boil.

Cook fresh corn: 4–8 minutes.

Cook frozen corn: 3–6 minutes.

Cook dried/whole kernels (hominy/grits-style if applicable): 25–60 minutes until tender.

Stir occasionally as needed.

Check tenderness with a fork.

Drain the corn.

Season (optional): salt, butter, pepper, or herbs.

Serve hot.
