Blot fresh ink immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel
Place a clean cloth or paper towel under the stained area to prevent spreading
Check the fabric care label for “washable,” “dry clean only,” or “delicate”
Test any cleaner on an inside seam or hidden area first
For washable cotton/denim (fresh or set ink)
Dab rubbing alcohol (70%–99%) onto the stain from the backside
Blot and repeat until ink transfers to the cloth underneath
Rinse with cold water
Apply liquid laundry detergent directly to the stain
Gently rub and let sit 5–10 minutes
Wash in cold water, then air-dry
Recheck before drying; repeat treatment if any color remains
For washable fabrics (alternative method)
Apply hand sanitizer (alcohol-based) to the stain
Blot, then rinse with cold water
Wash with liquid laundry detergent in cold water
Air-dry and repeat if needed
For ballpoint/gel ink (alcohol-friendly inks)
Use rubbing alcohol or hairspray (if it contains alcohol)
Dab from the back of the fabric
Blot, rinse cold, then wash with detergent in cold water
Air-dry and repeat until clean
For permanent marker or stubborn set stains
Use a stain remover labeled for ink or “spot remover”
Follow product directions
Wash in cold water and air-dry
Repeat if stain persists
For white fabrics (bleach-safe only)
Use oxygen-based bleach (color-safe) per label instructions
Soak, then wash in cold water
Do not use chlorine bleach unless the care label allows it
For dry clean only items
Do not scrub or soak
Blot gently with a dry cloth
Take to a professional cleaner and point out the ink type
Avoid
Heat drying (dryer/iron) before the stain is fully removed
Hot water, which can set ink
Strong agitation on delicate fabrics
Repeat cycle
Treat with alcohol or ink remover
Rinse cold
Wash with detergent
Air-dry
Repeat until no color transfers
