Rewash the clothes immediately
Use the hottest water safe for the fabric
Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the wash
Use regular detergent
Soak heavily smelly items in vinegar and water before washing
Add baking soda to the wash if needed
Wash clothes separately from other laundry
Do not overload the washer
Dry clothes completely right away
Dry in direct sunlight if possible
Repeat washing if the smell remains
Clean the washing machine
Leave the washer door open after use
Store clothes only when fully dry
Avoid leaving wet clothes in the washer or hamper
