Pat the steak dry with paper towels
Bring the steak to room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes
Season both sides with salt, pepper, and any preferred steak seasoning
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F
Lightly oil the air fryer basket or the steak
Place the steak in a single layer in the basket
Air fry for 8 to 12 minutes for medium-rare, flipping halfway through
Air fry for 10 to 14 minutes for medium, flipping halfway through
Air fry for 12 to 16 minutes for medium-well, flipping halfway through
Check doneness with a meat thermometer
Remove the steak when it reaches the desired internal temperature
Let the steak rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing
Slice against the grain and serve
