Turn off the main water supply
Drain the plumbing lines
Choose an installation location near the main water line and a drain
Shut off power to any nearby electrical components if needed
Gather the water softener, bypass valve, fittings, tubing, pipe cutter, wrenches, and sealant
Install the bypass valve on the softener
Cut into the main water line
Connect the inlet pipe to the softener inlet
Connect the outlet pipe to the softener outlet
Connect the drain line to the drain port
Route the drain line to an approved drain location
Connect the brine tank overflow line if required
Add salt to the brine tank
Connect the power supply if the unit needs electricity
Set the bypass valve to service mode
Turn on the main water supply slowly
Check all connections for leaks
Flush the system according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Program the softener settings
Run a manual regeneration cycle
Verify proper water flow and softening operation
