Read the fireplace’s instruction manual first
Make sure the gas supply is turned on
Locate the control knob and pilot access panel
Turn the control knob to the pilot position
Press and hold the control knob in
Use the igniter button if your fireplace has one
If there is no igniter, use a long lighter at the pilot opening
Keep holding the control knob for 30 to 60 seconds after the pilot lights
Release the control knob and check that the pilot stays lit
Turn the control knob to the on position
Turn on the fireplace with the wall switch, remote, or thermostat
If the pilot does not light, wait several minutes before trying again
