Trim off the very end of the stem if it’s dirty or dried
If needed, quickly rinse under cool running water and immediately pat thoroughly dry
Avoid soaking mushrooms in water
Remove any bruised or slimy spots with a small knife
Use a damp paper towel for stubborn dirt spots instead of soaking
Let mushrooms air-dry briefly on a clean towel or paper towels before cooking
Store cleaned mushrooms in a breathable container lined with paper towels in the refrigerator
Use within 1–3 days for best texture and flavor
