Remove the avocado pit from the fruit and rinse off all pulp
Identify the top and bottom of the seed
Insert three to four toothpicks around the middle of the seed
Suspend the seed over a glass of water with the bottom half submerged
Place the glass in a warm spot with indirect sunlight
Change the water every few days
Wait for the seed to split and roots to grow
Keep the bottom of the seed in water as roots develop
Plant the seed in soil when the stem is several inches tall and roots are well formed
Leave the top half of the seed above the soil
Water the planted seed regularly and keep it in bright indirect light
