Check whether you were told to fast before the scan
Shake the oral contrast bottle if instructed
Chill the contrast if allowed, as it may taste better
Drink the first portion at the time specified by the clinic
Sip steadily rather than gulping
Finish each dose within the time window given
Drink all of the contrast unless told otherwise
Tell the staff right away if you feel nauseated or cannot finish it
Bring any remaining contrast with you if instructed
Arrive on time for the scan after drinking the contrast
Ask the staff if you have diabetes, kidney disease, allergies, or a history of vomiting with contrast
Do not eat or drink anything else if you were told to stay fasting
Keep the container and instructions with you until the scan is complete
