Find the wall stud if possible using a stud finder
Mark the desired picture location with a pencil
Use picture hooks or plaster anchors rated for the picture’s weight
For light frames, use small picture hooks or adhesive hanging strips made for plaster
For medium to heavy frames, drill a pilot hole and insert a plaster anchor or toggle bolt
Use a drill bit sized for the anchor
Avoid hammering nails directly into brittle plaster
Hang the picture on the hook, anchor, or screw
Use a level to straighten the frame
Check that the hanger is secure before releasing the picture
Use two hooks for wider frames to keep them level
Patch any small holes with plaster repair if needed
