Measure the window width and height
Choose inside mount or outside mount
Gather the blinds, brackets, screws, drill, screwdriver, level, pencil, and tape measure
Hold the headrail or mounting brackets in place
Mark the screw holes with a pencil
Drill pilot holes if needed
Attach the brackets with screws
Snap or slide the headrail into the brackets
Test that the blinds are secure and level
Install any valance or cover pieces
Attach the wand, cord, or operating hardware
Raise and lower the blinds to check operation
Adjust bracket placement if the blinds do not fit properly
