How to Adjust Car Headlights?

Park the car on level ground facing a flat wall or garage door

Make sure the tires are properly inflated

Load the car as normally driven

Measure the headlight height from the ground to the center of each headlight

Mark the same height on the wall with tape

Back the car up to the recommended distance, usually 25 feet

Turn on the low beams

Locate the vertical and horizontal adjustment screws on each headlight assembly

Adjust the vertical aim so the top cutoff line sits slightly below the tape mark

Adjust the horizontal aim so the beam centers are straight ahead and not off to either side

Repeat for both headlights

Check that both beams are aligned evenly

Test the lights on the road and fine-tune if needed
