Measure the room
Remove old flooring
Clean and dry the subfloor
Repair any subfloor damage
Install tack strips around the perimeter
Lay carpet padding
Cut padding to fit and secure seams
Roll out the carpet
Cut carpet to room size with extra allowance
Position the carpet in place
Stretch the carpet using a carpet stretcher
Hook the carpet onto the tack strips
Trim excess carpet along the edges
Tuck edges neatly into place
Seam carpet sections if needed
Reinstall baseboards or trim
Vacuum the carpet after installation
