How To Replace Carpet?

Remove all furniture from the room

Pry off baseboards or remove trim if needed

Pull up the old carpet starting at a corner

Remove carpet padding and tack strips

Clean and inspect the subfloor

Repair any damage to the subfloor

Install new tack strips around the room perimeter

Lay down carpet padding and secure it

Measure and cut the new carpet with extra allowance

Position the carpet in the room

Stretch the carpet into place using a carpet stretcher

Attach the carpet to the tack strips

Trim excess carpet along the edges

Reinstall baseboards or trim

Vacuum the new carpet

Move furniture back after the carpet settles
