Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C)
Pat the chicken leg quarters dry with paper towels
Place the chicken on a baking sheet or in a baking dish
Rub with oil or melted butter
Season with salt, pepper, and any desired spices or herbs
Arrange the chicken skin-side up
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes
Check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part
Bake a few minutes longer if needed
Rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving
