Preheat the grill to medium heat, about 375°F to 400°F
Scrub the potatoes clean and dry them well
Pierce each potato several times with a fork
Rub the potatoes with oil
Sprinkle with salt if desired
Wrap each potato in foil, or place directly on the grill for a crispier skin
Place the potatoes on the grill over indirect heat
Close the lid
Grill for 45 to 60 minutes, turning occasionally
Check doneness by inserting a fork or knife into the center
Remove from the grill when tender
Unwrap carefully if using foil
Serve hot with desired toppings
